There has been a long tradition of the mainstream Christian Churches working together in some areas of social services. The Director of CSS, provides Catholic representation for the Catholic Diocese on the Boards of various ecumenical organisations. These include:
James Liston Hostel Trust
On any one night, an average of 45 people can be living at this hostel at 135 Howe Street Freemans Bay Auckland. The hostel provides a home for people who struggle to live independently in the community and who value the structured and supportive environment of the hostel. It is a vital service in Auckland.
New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services
Bringing together the six major national Christian social service organisations the Council seeks to draw on its members’ experience to advocate for policies of fairness, inclusion and justice for people who are most vulnerable in our community. It has a particular focus on people living in poverty, children and families and older people.
