Pacific Living without Violence.
It is a well known fact the Family violence is widespread in New Zealand and impacts lives in the community. Catholic Social Services (CSS) continues to experience increasing referrals of people affected by family violence from local parishes, school and self-referrals. The high need areas have been identified as south and west Auckland. CSS supports a large number of cases for Pacific families who are experiencing violence fueled by unemployment, financial hardship, drug and alcohol abuse and cases stemming form historical, cultural and traditional biblical views on society and disciplines.
Chaplaincy Services
A chaplain’s presence can have a calming and peaceful effect in prisons. In times of loneliness and despair, a chaplain can be well positioned to be an independent, compassionate advocate. They provide pastoral care and support to men and women held in our regional prisons. We also extend care and support to their families.
